New to Blogging

This is my second attempt at blogging -- so I hope I can keep this up better than the last one. I had a good excuse to start this one since the website my other blog was on discontinued their service.

I named my blog after the quote from the Bible, "...neither cast ye your pearls before swine..." I became an avid knitter last fall when I fell in love with those really cute fluffy scarves. I decided it would be cheaper to learn to knit my own. I've been addicted to it ever since. So when thinking for a name for a website or blog, I thought I could use the biblical phrase mentioned above & just change the spelling of pearls to the knitting term purls. Also, since I would rather not think of myself as "swine"...lol...I changed it to wine -- so, here you go! I also liked the thought that "pearls before swine" refers to items of quality offered to individuals who aren't cultured enough to appreciate them. Not that I don't think I'm cultured, but I would love to learn more about other people and their cultures...which brings me to my other addiction/hobby...

Anime. I've been an anime lover for over a decade now & even though I'm not quite the collector I use to be, I still love the genre & will watch it over many other television programs. I love some of the stories told -- they are just so imaginative & the characters are outrageous. Funny how you can be attached to two-dimensional characters. I'm a big fan of Rumiko Takahashi, creator of Ranma 1/2 & InuYasha, as well as Naoko Takeuchi of Sailor Moon fame & Yuu Watase of Ayashi no Ceres & Fushigi Yuugi fame. My next goal is to go to an anime convention & check out my fellow "otaku"...lol. I know that isn't a very favorable term in Japanese society, but it really explains the anime obsessiveness that I have had over the years.

That's it for now! Toodles!
